It's 31st December 2009 tomorrow and I am sure it is the time when everyone starts to make new year resolutions and check off those accomplished in this year.
As for me, I am still single, alive and trying to be happier each day. =)
A little update about myself, I have left SYCO since I am not quite a youth anymore. My next stop would hopefully be Yong Siew Toh conservatory, ideally recording arts or composition. I seem to match up to many of the pre-requisites of Recording Arts and in fact I matched up to some of the courses that are compulsory with my years in NUS Science, studying Pure Maths and being interested in Physics, especially those to do with sound waves. Thankfully I was sensible enough to take a Physics module which is actually a Core subject for Physics Majors and most people would avoid it due to the long hours expected in the Labs. Plus I did a GEK with Prof Bernard Tan--- The Science of Music, never had I thought I would "use" it one day so directly.
According to Mr ZHou Xiaodong, the teacher of Recording Arts, the discipline is mainly about physics/engineering/math, and a candidate should be highly interested by the nature of sounds and noises that they are motivated to study Acoustics. HEY! I like the science behind sounds. Why didn't I think of that? That Recording arts is suitable to view as an option? Maybe I was too self-centred and not open minded enough. Well, it's not too late I guess.
The audition will be on 20th Jan 2010. I am contemplating whether to apply. It seems purely harmlss, no fee involved, not even school fees should I gain entry. No harm done, why not? My harmony teacher had chosen 2 yangqin pieces which I might atempt to brush up and prepare in less than 3 weeks, though not much to my yangqin tutor's agreement on the choice of pieces. Sigh.
In the next few weeks I will need support from all, love and care for myself as I bite my teeth and prepare both my composition portfolio (which is still a big fat zero ---empty totally) and 2 yangqin pieces, including getting my instrument in conditionfor exam.
Will make a firmer resolution after I catch my breather on 21st Jan 2010.
